I'm not too sure if this has been asked already, but if i am going to continue soloing Smite Crawlers for ectos, should i do it in normal or hard mode...or does it make a difference?

One problem in UW hardmode, if youre luring the Graspings, the Aatxe will probably follow you because of 50'% Speedbuff.

not only probably, they follow you and if you hide behind the spirit the lvl 25 dying nightmare will kill you, i tested it already

Yeah that's why I never even bothered in hard mode. Unless you're planning on killing the aatxes too it won't work. Though dual teams would be awesome..

Its not possible with warrior, killing the grasping is still easy[the aatax not following you so far], but getting to the smites is impossible, because of the 50% movement speed they will hit you atleast twice which means 130+ damageX2Xnumber of aataxs+the other graspings that in your way[that deals 20+ damage].

It is possible to solo with necro, i did it myself today, it much fast because of the 50% attack speed of the monsters[nightmares are no problem, let em rend you, then PS then Spoil Victor/Spiteful Spirit/Indisious Parasite,].

I did a duo run today with a guildie today in UW.. HM, drop rate is not that good. I just hate does DN now at lvl 25, you can kill him just before my Spellbreaker runs out

I am still not getting any ectos in normal mode, even after the latest patch.

They drop 100%, i just had 9 ectos in 7 runs.

The aatxes don't scatter that much with aoe damage with the new easier normal mode, so I tested the old 55 solo build with balths aura. It worked but it took some time.

As for hard mode has anyone tried the torment gem duo farming build? Eternal spellbreaker would take care of the nightmares.

The drop rate for rare materials hasnt changed so it makes no difference if you do it in hard or normal mode, might as well do it in normal mode ya

IIRC, Gaile said that loot scaling (aka how the amount of loot dropped is proportional to your party size) doesn't affect rare materials. I heard nothing about the actual droprate.

During the free UW/FoW weekend, I got one ecto after a million UW runs, both solo and 2/3-man. The FoW was nicer and gave me a fair amount of shards, though.

I think you should just do normal mode (I haven't tried though, since, as we all know, Europe is a favor hog). Same with the New UW (aka "Tombs" as people have been calling it more often lately instead of the former). Lots of people claim doing HM on it is not worth it, and just to stick to Normal.

I run 605HP monk + smiter and it works in HM (Spirit Bond + reversal is enough) The nightmares lvl 25 Kill theirself with the holywrath and retribution, then no problem with SB.
BUT i hadnt any ecto in 3 run (killing aatxes + smites), maybe luck isn't with me.
